Har ki Doon is situated in the Western ranges of the Garhwal Himalayas, at an elevation of 11,700 ft. This is a cradle-shaped Valley surrounded by dense forests of pines and glittering mountain peaks. The forests are rich in wildlife and are a veritable paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. The journey from Netwar to Osla is through dense forests of chestnuts, walnuts, willows and chinars. The trek from Osla to Har ki Doon is through terraced mountain fields, lush green grassy land and conifer forests. This trek is suitable for all age groups with a difficulty level of moderate.
We, meet up with the group in the morning and drive to Taluka, a small hamlet nestled in the laps of nature via Purola and Mori. We set up camp at Taluka. This is starting point of our trek. Stay overnight in a guest house/tents.
The day starts with the gentle trail towards Osla. Today's trek is through beautiful forests of Chestnut, Walnut and Willows. A gradual ascent brings us to the picturesque Osla village along the swift rivulet. On arrival set campsite for overnight stay.
After breakfast, we push off for Har ki Doon. Initially, the trek goes past some fields of beans & rice and also some isolated villages, where the lifestyle is same as old, and the untouched one. The dress worn by the people is traditional. Their cheerfulness and innocence combined with their simple way of life make them very appealing. A common scene in the evenings is that of ruddy cheeked village belles returning home, carrying on their backs huge loads of pine needles & cones to be used as fuel. The trail steadily ascends the side of the ridge across the river and then veers left to the Har ki Doon valley. Dense forests at this part give way to the meadows that are scattered with flowers and flowering herbs. Once there, we will go on an acclimatization walk and explore the Har ki Doon valley. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
This morning is for exploration when you are free to do you own thing . . . capture some magnificent views on the camera, or just chill at the campsite. After an early lunch, we start trekking back towards Osla where we set up a camp by the Supin River. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
In the morning, after breakfast, we begin our leisurely trek back to Taluka while enjoying the sights and sounds of the valley. Once there, we relax, enjoy the rest of the day, interact with the locals to know more about their way life, and more. Overnight stay in guest house/tents.
After breakfast, we bid goodbye to the place and we make our way back to Dehradun by car.
